本論文旨在研究公共藝術、市民生活與城市空間之間的三角關係。 現代生活與城市空間的生產是在被支配的情形下進行，其結果是讓市民與城 市越來越陌生，人與人的社會關係越來越疏離。隨著新類型公共藝術的出現，以城市為基地的公共藝術，不再單單只是以美化生活環境為目的，更藉著公共藝術的過程重新論述我們居住的城市與生活。相對的，城市本身既存的脈絡也提供了公共藝術意義生產的基礎。也因此，公共藝術的策展、藝術的創作並非取決於所謂的「專業判斷」、「法規」或是「技術」，而是依著城市本身的「需求」而有所改變。 在案例分析當中，經過篩選的三個案例都因涉及城市空間改造的議題而引發市民的關注，但隨著基地脈絡、策展理念、操作手法、藝術家創作、審查制度的差異，對市民生活與城市空間的生產造成不同程度及面向的影響。 「大同新世界—2005台北公共藝術節‧迪化污水處理廠公共藝術」隨著社區工作站的設置，以及藝術家深入社區的攪和，凝聚了社區居民的情感，而有了「蘭州派出所熄燈號」的抗爭行動，過程中隱約可以看見公民社會被實踐的可能。市民藉由公共藝術表達了對公共生活經營的期待，另一方面也引發了對現行古蹟保存法的批判。 「美麗新世界－海安路藝術介入計畫」因為藝術家的創作，使得城市空間處處充滿驚奇，讓頹敗的城市街道出現了一線生機。但相對的，該公共藝術也引發了「市民美學」與「奇觀社會」的爭議。市民生活的真實面貌並未隨著該公共藝術的設置而浮現，反倒在空間的生產與生活之間出現了間隙。 而「埔頂公共藝術」則是藉由公共藝術在地理空間的設置策略，結合公共設施形式，論述淡水在地居民的生活，並反抗淡水被「迪士尼化」的危機。在此，身體的概念是重要的，隨著身體在城市中的遊走經驗，成為另外一種抵抗規訓生活的獨特策略，讓在地生活的真實面貌得以浮現。 The thesis of this issue is investigating the relationships among public art, citizen lives and urban space. The production of the urban space and life was dominated; the result keeps citizen away from the city, people away from social life. However, the situation changed due to the appearance of new genre public art. Nowadays, the public art based on the city does not only change the quality of our environment but also interpret the life and the city we lived. The text of the city itself also provides the meaning of public art. Furthermore, the reason why the public art existed is because of the needs of the city itself but not the professional judgement, the existing rules and skill. From the case studies, three of them were controversial which were occurred by the urban space issue. As we can see, how public art get involved into the mode of urban space production.
