In the professional society, tectonics is the combinations of contractures and materials, which always comes from several kinds of craftsmanship in different process without being controlled by only one thought or one person such as architect. And because of the accumulation in this situation, tectonics is considered as to be a technique instead of a lifestyle. This kind of thinking diverts from the direct experiences of environment, and lead to disregard of environmental. After the tectonic actor creates the spaces, or volume, the tectonics can be regarded as a form of the inventive processes or the reflection of consciousness, it also be configured in proper ways such as the materials or colors, to build the environmental dialogue and to manifest the culture.
The Chuwei flood plain was submerged under water 100 years ago.
Although the railway crossing, the road splaying, and the pollutions of water and dust caused by the industrial invasion, make it very different from past; it still retained its original texture due to the inconvenient passage.
Decades ago, in Taiwan increase up to 80% in the flood plain area because of the flood control works, and also decrease the flood damages nearby rivers. Because the dry season of those flood plain could be as long as 7-8 months, the metropolitan always have great imaginations and respects in using of rivers.
In the end 2005, the new bike way was built in several months, directly above the pollutants dumped in the past. The reason of changing location and the wrong analysis of design were not investigated yet, but the new design is empty by the ignorance of environment. At the same time, the last one building space in flood plain, Chuwei studio, plans to build a new art studio in years. with the new bike way, the inhabitants in Chuwei start to think the different possibilities of the last building space.

The research is trying to analyze the landscape processes of Chuwei from the aerial photos and historical files; and to understand the metropolitan influences and developments of Chuwei from those records and results investigated by inhabitants and professionals during this years. As a conseqertence, my design tries to develop the living series of Chuwei and the mutual interactions of metropolitan processes by designing and the landscape policy of Chuwei studio.
