The Construction of the techniques of Standard Calligraphy standing on 3 aspects of Chinese characters, which are the shape of characters, the letterform of standard hand-writing, and the letterform of calligrapher-writing. We have to discuss these 3 aspect at the same time, in order to reveal the developing process of Standard Calligraphy. Standard Calligraphy is born from a clerical style of calligraphy, therefore, we will prob into the clerical style rather than tracking back limitlessly. During the era of The Three Kingdoms period, the writing of Standard Calligraphy had already being a common way of writing. The Standard Calligraphy of Tang Dynasty formed its style mainly in the era of Southern and Northern Dynasties. In the early years of Tang, the Standard Calligraphy style was no longer as tough as Northern Dynasty Calligraphies, but it still held the essence of rustic northern concept. Xun Ouyang, Shi-nan Yu, and Sui-liang Chu were the VIPs of the early years of Tang, they not only made great influence by their achievements in art, but also were authorities in politics and academia. Because of their contribution, they were very important to the construction of Standard Calligraphy as well. Xun Ouyang concluded the form of Standard Calligraphy characters; Shi-nan Yu settled the concept of the usage of writing brush, and Sui-liang Chu successfully combined the style of Southern and Northern Dynasties'' writing, established the base construct of Standard Calligraphy.
