The thesis is to study Taiwan’s public
administration education during the past six
decades in terms of developmental process by
means of multiple data gathering, inductive and
analytical methods. It is asserted by this thesis
      that Taiwan’s public administration education
during the past six decades can be divided into
three distinct periods, i.e., the Tradition Era, the
Progressive Era, and the Multiple-Flourish Era.

It is also found that these three eras display
      different traits and developmental patterns.
Taiwan’s public administration education in the
Tradition Era was unique in that it was initially a
subfield of political science; the Progressive Era
witnessed a variety of new fields such as public
      policy, administrative management, and public
      management; the Multiple-Flourish Era was
characterized by a coexistence of tradition and
      new fields.
