The purpose of this essay is to study the effect of gold and Au-Ag nanoparticles on the activity of hydroxyl radicals in the oxidation reactions. Gold nanoparticles were prepared in the ionic surfactants, including hexadecyltrimethy lammonium bromide and sodium dodecyl sulfate. Au-Ag nanoparticles were synthesized by the different proportion of gold and silver salts in the hexadecyltrimethyl ammonium bromide solutions. The oxidation of anthracene by hydrogen peroxide in presence of gold nanoparticles was monitored by the UV/Vis instruemt. Experimental results showed that both the sphere gold and Au-Ag nanoparticles posses noticeable activities on the oxidation of anthracene. In contrast, no catalytical activity was observed for gold nanorods. On the other hand, gold nanoparticles also exhibit no catalytical activity on the degradation of hyaluronic acid.
