The research focuses mainly on the career development, personality and working pressure of the claim investigator in Taiwan life insurer. As the claim investigation is an inevitable and vital function in the risk control and risk management of the insurance operations, and the investigators encounter higher danger while handling the claims in person, thus, the personality, expertise, attitude and behavior of the claim investigators have a great influence on the result of the claim investigation. The research adopts Focus Group Interviews Method to survey the senior claim investigators with more than 10 years working experience amongst the 19 life insurers locally. In view of their abundant working experience, a large quantity of case handling practice and great resource to the unexpected situations, a meaningful Quantity Questionnaire can be conducted through each case study. The Quantity Analysis, a very high returns ratio of 91.3%, primarily analyzes the Questionnaire which had been widely distributed to the investigators of the insurance company, clarifies some controversial issues and then concludes a final result.
Through the research for the interviewees/senior investigators in terms of career development, personality and working pressure, it brought about the following findings: most of them are fond of challenging jobs; their working pressure are largely attributed to the insufficient support and assistance rendered by the company; the most unsatisfactory portion for their work is a lack of the recognition from the company; in respect to the interdependence relation between the investigation and claim work, most of them think that both of them should be combined together; the next job choice will be their second specialty, totally unrelated to their current
investigation jobs; the greatest pressure and difficulty encountered in job is not easy access of police investigations due to the inadequate authority.
To summarize a variety of analyses depicted the research, the investigators are hoping to be entitled to apply for the claimant’s personal information including her/his medical records and other relevant investigations issued by the police, fire brigade and Procurators Bureau. Furthermore, they urge that the insurance company can work out a comprehensive on-job training based on the prerequisite expertise and capability of a superior investigator, set some high level positions of senior, but non-management claim investigators in order to retain the outstanding investigators as well as build up a professional license-oriented system to enhance the position of the claim investigators.
