The purpose of this study is to interview through gangster students in the Yung-Ho area, and to find out the incentives of how they joined the gang, and to recall their memories for perceptions of rules, in order to discover the link between the gang and students, as well as to help schools take any prevention precautions.
This study has discovered that, family falling apart, bad study habits, and personal attributes are the essential causes of why students join the gang, while the family living environment has the least impact on the students. Gangs can be substitutes for families, improving financial situations, and providing a sense of attachment. Junior high school is one of the most important turning points for teenagers, both schools and families should put more attention at this point. The gangs recruit students with money or friendship, but they do not use drugs or violence to threaten and control the students. As for counseling the gangster students, the school has not yet found a coherent method, and usually allows the students to run their course. Lack of legal information from the students can usually make them deceived by the gang.
Finally, this study provides several suggestions, to emphasize on parenting education and to provide re-education to parents with cognitive deviation. The study also provides the teachers with eight principles, such as correlation between experiences and environment that could lead to changes of behaviors, emphasis on class union functions and group counseling. The school should assess the students based on how the students attend to others, obtaining skills from within, and teamwork as educational experiences. School should take precautions measures with extensive plans. The community, law enforcement and legal department should cooperate with schools, together to ban and to terminate gngs. The school administrative organization should teach students in accordance with their aptitude. The objective of future study should focus on the paradox and quality expansion of school management.
