Music, kind of the civilization, is also the symbol of the nation. It can express our emotion, and somehow reflect the custom. But, in Cuba, a small island in the Caribbean, the music represents much more than this… The Music of Cuba, just like the blood of its nation, is mixed with all kind of elements. The red natives, the white conquerors and the black slaves, who came and grew in this land, were those who enhanced the variety of the Cuban music.

In the Nineteenth-Century, due to the collapse of the Spanish colonization and the rise of the localization, some Cuban music genres started to stand out, and even shined on the stage of the world later by the 1920’s and 1930’s. The developments of these music genres, actually, are strictly combined with the social phenomena. Through research of music genres, we shall open the door of Cuban history. While the world is dancing rumba or salsa, the secrets behind these music notes are waiting us to find out…
