摘要:	一九六一年七月、台湾において上映された「桃太郎大戦鬼魔島」(のちに「桃老大伏匪記」と改題)について、まずその内容や上映期間といった基本的な事柄を確認する。その後、上映期間中に起こったデマに端を発する「桃太郎」像の変容について、当時の社会状況や新聞広告の変化、映画名の変更といった事態に注目しつつ考察する。こうした作業は、戦後日本において再創造された桃太郎の語りが忘却してきたものを再検討する視座ともなりうるものであろう。 In July 1961, a film entitled Momotaro-taisen-Onimashima was released in Taiwan. While the picture was still showing, however, a rumor about it spread nationwide and seriously affected the public image of the hero. Eventually the rumor forced the film company to change not only the tone of advertisements in the newspapers but also even the title of the film itself. Such a transformation of the old story in a given social context should lead to another question, that is, how the same story was interpreted and reworked in postwar Japan.
