Abstract: We attempt to apply the Wilson-line-breaking mechanism to Kaluza-Klein cosmology. Vacuum stability is considered in a simple SU(2) Einstein-Yang-Mills theory defined on space-time M4×S1. It is shown that static vacuum solutions with stable compactification exist.
