Abstract: Single crystals of the new double perovskites Ba2- and Sr2YRu1−xCuxO6 have been grown by high temperature solution growth technique with PbO-PbF2 as a solvent. Slow evaporation and slow cooling were employed to grow the crystals in the temperature range 1100–1000°C. The Ba2YRu1−xCuxO6 crystals grew as six sided plates measuring up to 6 mm on the side and those of Sr2YRu1−xCuxO6 grew with an octahedral habit measuring 1–3 mm along the body diagonal. The morphology and properties of the crystals are described.
