Abstract: | In the course of a systematic survey of the chemical constituents of liverworts grown in Taiwan,the oil of Scapania robusta was examined and found to contain sesquiterpene hydrocarbons anastreptene(3), longifolene (5), selina-4, 11-diene (9), and α-selinene (10) by spectral evidence. Other possible com-portents are cyclosativene, sinuene, scapanene, α-humulene, α-amorphene, aequilobene, β-selinene, cuparene(or calamenene) and 5, 10-epi-α-selinene on the basis of GC retention data. In addition, an unidentifiedsesquiterpene was isolated and appeared to be a new compound, as judged from the GC retention indicesand NMR spectrum of the partially pure material. |
