    Abstract: Pyroelectricity has been observed in the smectic-C and smectic-H phases of l-p-decyloxybenzylidene-p′-amino-2-methylbutylcinnamate after the material is poled in a dc field. The observed pyroelectric coefficient is consistent with an estimate of its theoretical value.
