Crystal structure, magnetic property and Mössbauer spectra studies of bis(pyridine-2,6-dicarboxylato) iron(III) dihydrate indicate a structure consisting of H5O2+ and [Fe(dipic)2]− ions, and Fe(III) in the complexes in a high-spin state. Temperature-dependent magnetic susceptibility shows a smooth curvature with Curie-Weiss behavior characteristic of appreciable weak ferromagnetic interaction.
