Abstract:	本文整理相關資料與文獻，分別從臺灣中小企業自1950年代以來相對地位的演變，以及中小企業部門在臺灣經濟發展過程中的轉變，探索臺灣中小企業的發展經驗。研究結果發現中小企業有若與大企業不同的發展模式，其不論在企業家精神的孕育以及勞動資源的吸收上，在臺灣經濟體系中，持續地佔有一席之地。同時，具備許多優秀持質的臺灣中小企業的確在臺灣經濟發展歷程中扮演多變而重要的角色，中小企業因應所處環境的改變而調整它們的活動，始終維持著旺盛的活力。本研究同時由過去中小企業發展的經驗中推敲，影響未來臺灣中小企業發展前途的一個重要關鍵，將是其促進日益增加的資本要素之使用效率的能力。
