Abstract: This study is to investigate stochastic periodic review inventory model
with optimal lost sales caused by investment strategy. Instead of having a
stockout cost term in the objective function, a service level constraint is
added to the model in which the review period and lost sales rate are treated
as decision variables. In this paper, we discuss the partial (distribution free)
information about the demand distribution in the protection interval (i.e.,
review period plus lead time). In other words, the protection interval
demand simply assumes that the first and second moments of the probability
distribution are known. For this case, an algorithm is developed to find the
    optimal investment strategy.
