    Abstract: The analysis of solvent extraction in multipass membrane modules with recycle has been carried out by the correction-factor method, analogous to heat transfer in multipass heat exchangers. The theoretical predictions confirm pretty well with the experimental results. It is concluded that when the increase in mass-transfer coefficient by applying the recycle effect can compensate for the decrease in the driving force of mass transfer, the membrane extractors with recycle operation are recommended to be employed.
