The utilization of Executive Information Systems (EIS) is growing rapidly in industrial and business organizations. The pwpose of ElSs is helping high-level managers to retrieve information effectively for making high quality decisions. However, inadequate EISs designs make high-level managers lUlwilling to use the systems and waste organization's resoW'ces. Today, the routes of browsing the EISs are fixed by system designers. The user can't dynamically retrieve information for immediate needs. Therefore this
paper integrates the concepts of hypermedia and expert systems to establish a new framework which
provide intelligent assistance to the user. In addition to attracting high-level managers to use the system, the rich representations and nonlinear structW"e of hypermedia can allow them dynamically access and organize information. FW'thermore, by using the inference and learning capability of ESs, high-level managers can obtain information easily. Through integrating hypermedia and ESs, this research offers a dynamic, interactive and customized environment for decision making in EISs.
