Abstract:	公牘紙本，是中國珍、善本古籍的特殊類型，其所含公牘，更是意外留存的珍貴檔案。從公牘紙本的盛行與衰退原因，可看出古代人們對於知識的渴望與中國科技技術的發展，其中脈絡，更凸顯中國人的智慧與文化。本文針對古代利用廢棄紙張成書之現象及其發展背景、成因與影響進行概略性的介紹。文中先就紙質檔案留存不易的現狀進行探討，並定義何謂公牘紙本；其次，整理公牘紙本的產生者、產生原因、時代等部分，以了解公牘紙本產生的意義與背景；最後，介紹目前公牘紙本保存現況，並提出公牘紙本對後世的影響。
