    Abstract: 本文嘗試以國際主義和正典視野為方法，以大英帝國後期的文學代表作──毛姆的《面紗》(The painted Veil)與格雷厄姆．格林的《命運的內核》(The Heart of the Matter)為核心，嘗試分析當中對殖民者、殖民地的「病」的書寫，一方面擴充二十世紀以降文學史中的疾病主題學和國族敘事的聯繫和反思，二方面闡釋兩部作品在形塑結構、刻劃下層人物因環境而病態的細緻處，以及各式文學元素整合下的悟性與特殊性，以提高文學對意識型態和個人才略會通的水平。
