Abstract: According to the SinoELE bibliographic database, approximately 1 000 papers, thesis and studies on teaching of Spanish as a foreign language to native Chinese speakers have been published so far. The objective of this paper is to offer a first summary and make an initial assessment, unpublished until now, of all these investigations from a quantitative point of view. The results obtained reveal that aspects such as grammar and contrastive analysis, phonetics and pronunciation, and written expression have been widely investigated, while others such as pragmatics, listening comprehension, students’ digital and non-verbal competences and critical thinking have barely received attention. The data offered in this article is a valuable reference for future research, as well as for the qualitative analysis of the literature.
