Nowadays, due to the rapid development of digital design and fabrication, people can quickly simulate different states of space and structure design, and accurately produce it with the digital fabrication tools. However, most of the space is fixed, the device is placed then the space is delineated, so it is impossible to change the size of the space easily according to the user''s demand. These kind of fixed spaces occupy a certain ratio in the environment. On the other hand, because the population density and traffic construction rises continuously in the city, excessive saturation of man-made space to compress the pedestrian space, resulting in the space that people can really get to use also decline. This study anticipates to find a different way of space design and to try letting people get more spaces.
This study contains the three stages. The first stage is based on the classifications of movement found in the book "Collapsible" to precede the design simulation and test the feasibility of the dynamic devices. The second stage is preceding the design through design competition and putting the device into the space to understand whether the behavior of the dynamic behavior can be achieved. The third stage returns to the original concept of research, applying the experiences of the previous two stages’ experiment to design a dynamic device system that can be easily used, changed and handled.
Most of the digital fabrication products in the past normally are fixed devices, assembly and handling are often not easy. This study tried to find a way of aggregation that can be easily assembled and disassembled. And after it assembled, it can be changed the size of its occupied space according to the dynamic behaviors. Considering that the operator of this device will be the general public, this study attempts to design the device in a simpler wood material. It can be easily acquired and operated, and can even be modified by the user to meet the needs of its use.
