In this study, we applied the friction pendulum system (FPS) seismic isolation system as the energy dissipater to the tuned mass damper (TMD), and developed the “Variable Friction Pendulum System of Tuned Mass Damper.” At the beginning, the equation of the period of a simple pendulum was used and modified to include the coefficient of friction. The periods of baseplates with curved surface were determined using the experimental output of the time-displacement relationships. The periods obtained from the experiments were then compared with that calculated from the theoretical equation. It was found that similar time-displacement diagrams were obtained, and the time-displacement relationships derived using the Matlab program can be verified by the results of the experiments of this study.
