Thienoisoindigo (TII)-based small molecules have been previously used in the applications for organic photovaltaic with promising performance. However, they have never been used as the dyes for dye-sensitized cells (DSCs). In this work, we synthesized six TII-based dyes by using different electron donor, TII as π-linker, and cyano acetic acid as electron acceptor as well as the anchoring group on TiO2. The photophysical studies of dyes showed that the absorption of TII-based dyes covered the near-infrared region. Moreover, the power conversion efficiency (PCE) of Xin-1~6 under solar light and indoor light environments were characterized.
