The rise of People’s Republic of China as a second economic power has had a tremendous impact on Latin America. Latin America has become not only a source of natural resources for China and USA, but a region of geopolitical confrontation where the Asian giant influence in the last years has been flourishing more than its rival. This paper analyzes the relations between People’s Republic of China and Latin America region from a political and economic perspective; considering the United States influence in the region; and tries to show if it will be beneficial for the Latin America development or whether it would simply be counterproductive with a neo-colonialist undertone as have been the United States in the past.
