In general, tectonic culture is an accumulation of industry activities or activities generated in certain places. Over time, various factors such as local industries and life habits begin to influence tectonic culture. This process of change can be considered a part of the tectonic culture. Therefore, the objective of the present study is to examine the transition from local culture to local tectonic culture. Both macro and micro perspectives were adopted to reinterpret local tectonic culture, while the design was adopted as a tool for discourse. The present study used local industrial culture as a starting point for discussions. These discussions were then expanded to elaborate on local tectonic culture. In addition to presenting views on local cultural history, the present study discussed the feasibility of applying local value to architectural design.

The present study developed an interesting narrative with the land, which can be approached from the aspects of activity, tectonic behavior and method, and material selection. Two methods were used for the design: (1) Discussions were based on incorporating the current status of the place into a social context of analysis, and the humanistic spirit and values accumulated at the place were identified to formulate a foundation for tectonic and spatial planning. (2) Factors that affect tectonic culture were compiled, including the objective and criteria of the place and restrictions on tectonic, thereby identifying opportunities for breakthroughs and creating new values.

The unitary status of the place was not used to describe the experiences from the site in the discussions. Rather, emphasis was placed on opportunities for change brought about by dramatic changes that the place had undergone over time. Meticulous observations were conducted to create an association with the self-knowledge system and to document the value of self-projection in a place. How this value affects the context triggered following the association of personal experience thus becomes the primary basis for examining tectonic issues.

Tectonic issues were discussed from the following five aspects: (1) observing changes in local activity and identifying the intrinsic context of the place, (2) accumulating the experiences of design following the intervention of design tools, (3) using the logics of material application to discuss the relationship between tectonic methods and place, (4) elucidating the value of tectonic objects and groups once they enter farmlands and integrate with the landscape, and (5) using design as a tool for argument and inference and proposing a design and operation method. The logic produced from the findings and the inspiration obtained from the application of the design tools were employed to develop an interactive and dynamic model. This model was then used to actuate the continuity of interaction between the surface of the tectonic constructions, internal/external spaces, potted plants, and users, thereby achieving the diversified application of environments.
