Title: Deterministic inventory models for deteriorating items with shortages and two warehouses

Abstract: Deterministic inventory model with two levels of storage (i.e., a rented warehouse is used to store the excess units over the fixed capacitated own warehouse) has been studied by numerous authors. In contrast to the traditional deterministic two-warehouse inventory model with shortages at the end of cycle, we propose here an alternative inventory model with shortages at the beginning of the cycle. In addition, we investigate the conditions under which a two-warehouse inventory model is less expensive to operate than a single-warehouse model.
