This study aims to make an in-depth exploration on the factors of how Malaysian oversea students choose schools and statuses of how they adapt lives and studying in Taiwan. Therefore once we understand the problems that Malaysian oversea students have encountered in Taiwan, we can provide relevant advices based on our research results. This study selected six oversea students from Malaysia as subjects we processed semi-instructed interviews with.
According to our research results, we found that due to the current tendency in their homeland, good reputation and well worthiness, Malaysian oversea students regard Taiwan as their first choice for studying aboard. Malaysian students generally are capable to well adapt differences among studying, lifestyles, cultures and religions. The being different of educational systems from Taiwan and Malaysia is the major. Moreover, we believe schools have responsibilities to improve their mentoring programs for oversea students and strengthening their academy-industry cooperation and offering economic supports can also make oversea students want to study in Taiwan.
Based on the above findings, suggestions were proposed for Education Authorities of the city government, the universities as well as researchers of future studies.
