Taiwanese economic agents play a leading role in the consolidation of a "production network" in Asia Pacific, the region with the greatest global economic dynamics in the XXI century. But preferential trade agreements impose a new logic that requires consistent cooperation of the political and economic actors of each national entity.

TAIWAN against the new configuration of Asia Pacific, analyzes the Taiwanese government attempts to guide the formal regional integration and exposes the different results due to political counterweight in the People''s Republic of China (PRC), and this has limited the ability of Taipei in modeling the economic integration in its regional environment immediately after its diplomatic objectives.

This thesis shows how Taiwan''s international profile is affected, from the inside, by conflict between pro- and anti-Chinese factions bureaucratic; with emphasis on the influence of Beijing and highlighting the unequal relations in regional matter that holds disparate Taipei States, assuming the increased complexity of relations of this country in the vicinity of Southeast Asia as China''s influence increases significantly.
