    Abstract: 在本計畫中提出階層式調變將應用於無線通訊及光通訊領域,並實現以下幾點:在無線通訊部分,將領航訊號(Pilot)使用階層式調變來作都卜勒估測,此技術可以估測出使用者之都卜勒頻率飄移,使基地台可提早得知使用者移動速度之資訊,而達到提早換手之效益。將在合作式通訊中來源端所需要傳送之資料使用階層式調變,傳送至廣義存取節點(General Access Node, GAN),利用GAN以及本身使用者的傳輸模組,組合MIMO傳輸,此技術可以借用GAN傳輸天線,來當來源端之傳輸天線,而達到較高MIMO天線數之效益。後端網路光通訊系統部分,可使用階層式調變,分析各階層的BER對相位雜訊影響,並在時域訊號上利用階層式調變來加上飄移訊號,來調整頻域上之相位雜訊,並提出最佳的階層式調變之參數,使相位雜訊影響達到最小。
    This project is mainly to study the applications of hierarchical modulation in the areas of wireless communication and optical communication. It will finish the realization of this study in the following fields: 1) In wireless communication the pilot signal will be hierarchically modulated to perform the Doppler spread estimation. From the estimated Doppler spread it will allow the base station in short time to estimate the user’s moving speed and to perform the timely handoff process. 2) In the co-operative communication among base station the information at source terminal is hierarchically modulated and is transmitted through the MIMO channel to reach the General Access Node (GAN). It will achieve higher antenna gain as equivalently generated from high order of MIMO through the use of the GAN antenna as the user’s transmitter antenna. 3) In the optical communication in the backward network, it first can use the hierarchical modulation to analyze the relation between the system performance such as BER versus the phase noise. With this information it can then determine the optimum parameters to be used in the hierarchical modulation for every channel environment. And consequently when a signal is transmitted through the channel and have the Hierarchical modulation parameters selected according to its channel environment, the received signal output from the detector after mitigating the phase noise will have better system performance.
