This plan analyzes Western contemporary drama based on science from an interdisciplinary perspective between gender and technology studies, and it expects to provide with a feminist critique. Studying six plays published from 1990 to 2009, this plan spends two years scrutinizing and comparing female dramatists’ and male dramatists’ different attitudes toward gender and technology. Those six plays are Arcadia (1993), Wit (1995), An Experiment with an Air Pump (1998), Proof (2000), An Immaculate Misconception (2000), A Number (2002). This plan, appropriating Feminist Science and Technology studies, criticizes gender bias in science and sexual discrimination in technology and also reveals how the patriarchal ideology in science “genderizes” technology and how gender are shaped and created by masculine technology.
