Under the topic "The impacts of culture on economic development", this research has attempted to answer the questions: What is the role of cultural factors on economic development? Have the Confucian thought influenced on economic development in East Asia? How has perceived the resurgence of the controversy surrounding Confucianism in People''s Republic of China, through Latin America ''s eyes?

On the role of the incidence of Confucian thought on economic development of some countries in East Asia, the arguments presented support the conclusion that Confucianism has strongly modified the habitus of societies living in the area of its influence.

The theoretical developments about Confucianism, Post-confucianism and Confucian-derived values, also allow us to conclude that Asian ethical and religious values also fostered the development (not the birth) of capitalism in the cases of Japan, Taiwan, South Korea, Hong Kong and Singapore, something that can not be understood if it is analyzed in a reductionist manner without considering the initial theoretical basis outlined in the first lines.
