The rapid development of modern city brings various environmental issues, e.g.: water pollution, devastatingly threaten ecological species and quality in river; production and accumulation of waste, results in a severe damage to the environment; rapid growth of urban density, takes up sizable lands and refines the zone of activity. However, with the fast development of IT industry, interactive technology provides the possibility of dynamic and interactive space. This design aims to construct a new system to solve above issue, based on the usability of the wasted tires and interactive technology.
This research consists of two sections of literature review. The first section focuses on made product, the exploration of the development of materials and its influence on culture as well as the reassessment and reconsideration of the recycling of waste tire. The second section is the theory of interactive technology, utilizing bionics to group wisdom to reach a feasible solution and to build up effective control system based on the theory of specific operation and etc. Based upon the theory, the following steps were taken, study utilized waste tire as core design and object of study, (1) Basic investigation: defined the role of different types of tire in the design; (2) Ecological engineering: studied the efficiency of decontamination and root depth of plant so as to plant them on waste tire in future; (3) Kinetic movement: conducted the experiment of flexagon and telescopic pole to understand ability of stretching and alteration of waste tires. Through these steps and adjusted the array of point, line and sides, the module of basic unit of 3X3 waste tires provided a new urban activity area at the river bank.
Finally, our study was taken upon Bitan. Local condition, transportation path, distribution of activity and visitors flow rate were analyzed followed by wasted tires being placed into river bank, the point, line and sides were adjusted and reassembled dynamically to create more area of river bank so as to satisfy the need of urban activity as well as purify the water. Our study aims to apply the construction and system of unit module to all water pollution area in Taiwan and provides a variety of activity at river bank.
