This study in solar azimuth of the winter solstice in Taiwan is based to explore the winter solstice sun’s shadow of site buildings. Firstly, 22°N, 23°N, 24°N, 25°N four latitudes being studies to explore a variety of different combinations base on site’s width and length when, according to the provisions of building code for minimum one sunshine hour in the day of winter solstice, The shadows in site made by the solar rays are being examined in related surrounding site. Secondly, decide the shading distance of the setback distance required by building code and urban design code regulate prevailing in Taiwan area for solar shading in site. In addition, the existing regulations did not provide for the construction of various buildings within the base is necessary to review the winter solstice sun’s shadow, this research reveal building adjacent buildings spacing and depth to simulate building size changes and its results. The results will be proposed for amending or updating the building code and urban design code.

This study includes the following content:
Chap 1 To introduce the research motivation, objectives, assumptions, study methods, and perspective results.
Chap 2 Studying the literature review with the subject of "solar shadow", "solar rights", "urban planning, architectural design, construction management and regulations" and "construction of meteorological data" in four areas organize, and summarize the literature relevant to the study.
Chap 3 Analysis the experimental and simulated data which being collected by Tamkang University Daylighting lab.over last decade. These data include four major latitude in Taiwan, which are 22°N, 23°N, 24°N, 25°N. Site’s width and length are interchanged for further simulation the solar ray in wither solstice. The results of simulation will be used for comparing the site’s area allowed to built with the existing regulations. Base on above analysis, the practical proposal will be suggest for deciding the solar shadow on and off site area.
Chap 4 According to the results of simulation obtained were discussed by the regulations in Taiwan, such as urban planning and construction management and design-oriented conduct. In addition to the existing building technologies in Taiwan rules, there is no provision expressly sunshine shadow on the review of relevant research to back this management of urban planning and architectural design of the provisions shall remain compare analysis to explore the sun shadow base for building development the impact by the ratio between the building base to explore and buildings associated with the planning of sunshine shadow Allocation for urban planning and construction management to review the recommendations put forward regulations as amended.
Chap 5 Data simulated conditions on the set of the data obtained Institute proposes to review the recommendations for urban planning of the Taiwan Area and the relevant provisions of the building management. To develop the concept of eco-city is concerned, the request to review the future of urban planning to the overall level of use of the land included in the shadows sunshine review the situation in order to achieve the intended use of buildings in different mutual interference from source control to solve. And part of building management, in addition to the review recommended that the scope of building bases winter solstice sun shadow of the expansion, but also recommended that the building should be the base of each building mutual shadow of sunshine review to ensure good quality of the living environment.
