<title>A Hierarchical Panel Data Model for the Estimation of Stochastic Metafrontiers: Computational Issues and an Empirical Application</title>
      <link>https://tkuir.lib.tku.edu.tw/dspace/handle/987654321/124192</link>
<description>title: A Hierarchical Panel Data Model for the Estimation of Stochastic Metafrontiers: Computational Issues and an Empirical Application abstract: In the metafrontier literature, firms are put into groups, generally defined by technology or geography. Each group has its own technological frontier, and the metafrontier is the upper bound of these group frontiers. The aim of this literature is to measure a firm’s inefficiency, and to decompose it into its inefficiency relative to its group’s frontier and the inefficiency of its group’s frontier relative to the metafrontier. A previous paper (Amsler et al., Empirical Economics 60:353–363, 2021) proposes a hierarchical stochastic frontier model to accomplish this, where the hierarchy is firms in groups in the overall set of groups. This chapter gives an empirical implementation of this model, with emphasis on computational issues.

<title>ESG Effects on Stock Prices During the Epidemic: Empirical Investigations for the Finance Holding Companies in Taiwan</title>
      <link>https://tkuir.lib.tku.edu.tw/dspace/handle/987654321/123949</link>
<description>title: ESG Effects on Stock Prices During the Epidemic: Empirical Investigations for the Finance Holding Companies in Taiwan abstract: This study investigates the impact of ESG on stock prices for finance holding companies during the epidemic. ESG has been used as a criteria indicator for investment nowadays. Many governments have also proposed standards and laws to issue ESG’s important in current corporate operations. However, the suddenly coming of the COVID-19 could be a time point to examine the effects of ESG. This research examines Taiwan’s finance holding companies by using the Taiwan ESG score data in 2018 to 2021, the company data from Taiwan Economic Journal and Taiwan Financial Supervisory Commission, COVID-19 data from Taiwan Ministry of Health and Welfare, and macro-economic data from Taiwan DGBAS. The results show that the ESG has a significant and positive impact on the finance holding company’s revenue. It’s found that Taiwan has a smaller negative impact on the finance holding company’s revenue when the epidemic is well controlled. In terms of stock price, the results show that the stock price of finance holding companies inside the ESG rating list will be significantly higher than those are not on the list. This shows that when market risks occur, the degree of ESG can be regarded as an important indicator for investors’ concern.

<title>Why the rate of saving declines when an economy develops?</title>
      <link>https://tkuir.lib.tku.edu.tw/dspace/handle/987654321/24631</link>
<description>title: Why the rate of saving declines when an economy develops? abstract: In every country that has gone through the process of sustained development, the rates of personal saving always declined. Moreover, such declines have continued for many decades in countries that have experienced a long period of development. In Taiwan, the sign of the decline in personal saving rate has appeared in the late 1980s. This paper uses the state-dependent framework to provide an explanation of why the rate of personal saving declines when a country goes through development processes.
