      <title>Territoriality, Resistance and Indigenous  Development in Protected Areas: A Political Ecology  Analysis of Truku People in Eastern Taiwan</title>

The Japanese police controlled the primary aspects of everyday life of indigenous people. Some policies concerning indigenous people have been continued in the post-colonial regimes of Han Chinese until now. Protected areas (PAs) have been established since the 1980s by central government when Taiwan was still under the martial law. National parks are typical protected area with rigorous conservation restrictions. Some protected areas actually overlapped with the traditional domains of indigenous people. Community conservation is a participatory protected area and has emerged around the 1990s. It is seen as a reform of fortress protected areas such as parks because it integrates both objectives of conservation and development. The rolling back of the state and empowerment of the local community are assumed to be the features of such a reformed policy. Community conservation has become popular among indigenous communities of Taiwan since 2000. This study aims to look at the interactions between state authorities and local indigenous people in PAs. Two Truku villages in east Taiwan were selected as case studies, as one is in Taroko National Park while the other conducted a community conservation project in the 2000s. Qualitative methods were employed for data collection. Drawing from the theory of political ecology, a framework is constructed drawing together human territoriality, resistance, and social impacts. This analysis framework was employed to examine the acts of state agencies and local Truku people, and social repercussions in the Truku examples in the context of PAs. Research results showed that the establishment of PAs and conservation policy implementations in PAs by state agencies were acts of internal territorialisation. Such a spatial classification restricted the locals’ exploitation of natural resources according to the imposed regulations. Through the control enforcement by state agencies and judicial authorities, conflicts between the local indigenous people and state agencies have happened. Even the co-management arrangement of the Park and the planning of scenic areas for local development revealed the domination of power by the government. These restrictions resulted in unpleasant social impacts such as difficulties of cultural practices and livelihood selections as well as the undermining social capital in the local indigenous communities. Accordingly, the local Truku people mobilised resistance to the conservation interventions via individual everyday practices and collective protests. Their resistance aimed to express their sustenance demands and ethnic claims. Differences between covert and overt resistance depended on the degree of empowerment. Through the process of empowerment, local protesters gained more information and political dynamics for their collective action, open resistance. I primarily contend that the establishment of PAs and conservation policy implementations by governmental agencies, whether through parks or community conservation, are acts of internal territoriality. Territorialisation of the state tends to result in resistance by the local indigenous residents due to the negative social impacts as a result of conservation interventions. This argument also interprets the unexpected consequence, resistance of the local indigenous people, of PA policies in Taiwan. To avoid the undesired outcome of policy implementation and social cost, it is necessary to build trust between them. A participatory project which confers genuine power and accords with local norms may be feasible. Decentralised power could be the first step of a breakthrough.

      <description>title: 透過食品觀光工廠探討資訊揭露和健康意識對購買意願之影響 abstract: 食品安全問題的事件引發消費者對食品安全的不信任而改變消費習慣，重創食品產業營收乃至影響社會經濟，面對層出不窮的食安問題事件，如何重拾或維護消費者信心與購買意願成為政府和食品廠商重要的課題。透過食品廠商的資訊揭露可建立消費者的食品安全信任和購買意願，做為食品廠商和消費者的溝通橋樑。依據資訊揭露的內容可區分為產品資訊揭露和企業資訊揭露，另外食品可依照購買價值訴求分為實用型和享樂型，且因食品觀光工廠可同時充份揭露產品資訊和企業資訊給予消費者，因此食品觀光工廠的訪客做為研究對象十分適合，以此探究實用型和享樂型各別食品價值類型下，產品資訊揭露和企業資訊揭露對消費者購買意願的影響。此外消費者個人的健康意識為主觀條件下影響食品購買意願的因素，過去文獻發現健康意識愈高則對實用型食品的購買意願愈高，因此本研究將享樂型食品納入，探討實用型和享樂型各別食品價值類型下，消費者的健康意識高低程度在食品安全信任和購買意願之間的影響。&#xD;
  根據本研究目的，採用六個變數包含產品資訊揭露、企業資訊揭露、食品安全信任、食品價值類型、健康意識和購買意願，並發展兩個研究模式。研究模式1為資訊揭露影響食品安全信任與購買意願之模式，係以企業資訊揭露和產品資訊揭露為主軸並加入食品價值類型，比較對食品安全信任和購買意願的影響。研究模式二為消費者的健康意識和食品價值類型影響購買意願之模式，探討實用型和享樂型各別食品價值類型下，消費者個人的健康意識為在食品安全信任和購買意願之間的關連性。透過兩間分別代表實用型和享樂型的食品觀光工廠–「白蘭氏健康博物館」和「黑橋牌香腸博物館」的消費者進行實地問卷調查，共回收398份有效問卷。主要以PROCESS統計分析工具來驗證中介效果、干擾效果和調節式中介效果。&#xD;
  根據分析結果，本研究發現企業資訊比起產品資訊更能影響食品安全信任和購買意願，且部份消費者接收到資訊後，需透過對其食品安全的信任進而增加購買意願。此外對於購買實用型食品的消費者而言，食品安全信任影響購買意願的強度高於享樂型食品。進一步發現在購買實用型食品時，健康意識程度低的消費者比起健康意識程度高的消費者更依賴食品安全信任而影響其購買意願。因此食品廠商可選擇揭露包含產品和企業的資訊，藉以增加消費者對其食品安全的信任和購買意願。此外對於實用型食品的廠商，應更重視消費者對其食品安全的信任，進而可影響其消費者的購買意願。

      <description>title: 合作學習法、專業知能服務學習法與學習歷程檔案評量法提升 學生學習動機與學習成效之行動研究-以解說原理與實務為實踐課程 abstract: 現在的教學，已經不再強調以講課為中心，轉而以學習者為中心，此研究案推動合作學習法、專業知能服務學習法，和學習歷程檔案評量法的使用，試圖讓學生成為自己學習的進度推手，老師在學習的過程不再過度強調講述課程內容的教學者，而是成為教材與案例的提供者，以及學習與小組討論進行時的引導者和協助者，此研究案以行動研究的方式，採用混合研究法的策略，分別收集學生在學習動機上的前測與後測、期末收集合作學習法與專業知能服務學習法量表、期末焦點座談、專業知能服務學習日誌等。此研究初步結果，在量化的描述性統計上，學習動機呈現提升的趨勢，而對於合作學習法也顯示正面積極的態度。在專業知能服務學習上，問卷與訪談的結果都顯示，專業知能服務學習有助於技能熟練並提供實作機會，也同時更能體會課堂所學習的理論，然而，學習歷程檔案評量法方面，儘管訪談結果顯示，系統性地收集學習檔案有助於學習，並提供反思的機會，但是，欠缺學期評量的強制性，其自主收集檔案與書寫學習反思的頻率也就逐漸下降。此外，描述性統計與訪談結果都提供教學者未來修改教學活動與課堂氣氛營造的新方向。

Modern festivals are spread all over the world, not only changing the rhythm of daily life but also bringing more development possibilities for the places where these festivals are held. In order to learn more about tourists’ experiences in emerging events, a detailed study of famous hot air balloon festivals was conducted in Taitung City, Taiwan. Based on the stimulus-organism-response (S-O-R) model, the purpose of this study is to explore the relationship among these three constructs, namely stimulus: perception of marketing strategies and motivation, organism: positive emotions and satisfaction and response: revisit intention. Face-to-face surveys were conducted on-site in 2014 and 2018, a total of 896 valid questionnaires were collected from tourists who visited the Taiwan International Balloon Festival. SPSS Macros PROCESS was used to examine the measurement model. This study confirms the application of the S-O-R model in predicting tourists’ revisit intentions in the context of emerging events in the tourism industry. The survey results show that whether in 2014 or 2018, tourists’ satisfaction and tourists’ positive emotions can mediate the relationship between tourists’ perception of marketing strategies (or tourist’s motivation) and tourists’ revisit intention. Moreover, only in 2018, tourists’ visiting frequency can moderate the relationship between satisfaction and revisit intention.

The purpose of the current study is to bridge this gap by examining the influence of foreign institutional investors, institutional directors, and shares pledged by directors on tourism firms’ financial performance. Data are derived from listed tourism firms in Taiwan. Ordinary least square regressions and two-stage least square regressions are used to examine the hypotheses. Results show that the presence of foreign institutional investors and a low share pledge ratio of directors have significant effects on return on assets and Tobin’s Q. The presence of institutional directors has a positive effect on Tobin’s Q. Implications for owners, policy makers, and investors are discussed.

The purpose of this study is to examine the structural relationships between the dimensions of virtual reality (VR) experiences (immersion, interaction, usability and illusion), the dimensions of VR attachment (VR dependence, VR identity, VR affect and VR familiarity) and the dimensions of VR experiential outcomes (VR experiential satisfaction, VR experiential loyalty and VR experiential advocacy).&#xD;
&#xD;
Design/methodology/approach&#xD;
A total of 490 visitors who tried 360 VR travel video games in the TripMoment VR were surveyed.&#xD;
&#xD;
Findings&#xD;
In this study, there are positive relationships between VR experiential satisfaction and immersion, interaction, illusion, as well as VR identity, VR affect and VR familiarity. In addition, VR experiential satisfaction has a positive relationship with VR experiential loyalty. In addition, VR experiential advocacy has a positive relationship with both VR experiential satisfaction and VR experiential loyalty.&#xD;
&#xD;
Practical implications&#xD;
The results show that tourism operators should focus on increasing VR experiential satisfaction and experiential loyalty to enable visitors to have intentions to advocate their VR experiences.&#xD;
&#xD;
Originality/value&#xD;
This paper provides the data that lead to a better understanding of the relationship between the dimensions of VR experiences, VR attachment and VR experiential outcomes in the tourism industry.&#xD;

本研究目的是在检验虚拟实境体验维度(沉浸、交互作用、可用性与幻觉),虚拟实境依附维度(虚拟实境依赖、虚拟实境认同、虚拟实境影响与虚拟实境熟悉度)和虚拟实境体验结果维度 (虚拟实境体验满意度、虚拟实境体验忠诚度与虚拟实境体验主张)之间的结构关系。&#xD;

设计/方法学/方法&#xD;
在时刻旅行中, 共受访490名游客尝试了360度虚拟实境旅游视频游戏。发现 – 在本次研究中, 虚拟实境体验满意度与沉浸、交互作用、幻觉与虚拟实境认同、虚拟实境影响与和虚拟实境熟悉度均存在正向关系。而且, 虚拟实境体验满意度对虚拟实境体验忠诚度有正向影响。此外, 虚拟实境体验主张对虚拟实境体验满意度与虚拟实境体验忠诚度两者均有正向影响。&#xD;

实际意涵&#xD;
结果显示, 为了能使游客有意愿宣传自己的虚拟实境体验, 旅游经营者应该将焦点放在提升虚拟实境体验满意度与虚拟实境体验忠诚度。&#xD;

The purpose of this paper is to use a multi-level model as a framework to examine the relationships among experiential quality, green emotional attachment, green image, green switching experience, green experiential satisfaction and green experiential loyalty for the green restaurant industry.&#xD;

Design/methodology/approach&#xD;
The data used in this study were based on a sample of 515 customers at a green restaurant in Taipei City of Taiwan. Data were analyzed using structural equation modeling and hierarchical regression analysis.&#xD;
&#xD;
Findings&#xD;
The findings identify that interaction quality, peer-to-peer quality, physical environment quality, outcome quality, enjoyment quality and management quality influence experiential quality, which in turn results in green emotional attachment and green image respectively. Experiential quality, green image and green switching experience influence green experiential satisfaction, which in turn results in green emotional attachment. Green loyalty is influenced by green emotional attachment, green image, green experiential satisfaction and green switching experience. Green image moderates the relationships between experiential quality, physical environment quality and outcome quality.&#xD;
&#xD;
Practical implications&#xD;
To increase experiential quality and green emotional attachment, enhance green image, green experiential satisfaction and green loyalty and decrease green switching experience, the study findings will help green restaurant management develop and implement market-orientated service strategies.&#xD;
&#xD;
Originality/value&#xD;
This is the first study to investigate the effects of experiential quality, green emotional attachment, green image, green switching experience and green experiential satisfaction on green experiential loyalty in a green restaurant setting.

      <title>Greetings from Emily! The effects of personalized greeting cards on tipping of hotel room attendants</title>

Design/methodology/approach – A field study was conducted in an upscale independent hotel. Four&#xD;
types of greeting cards through two personalized factors, perceived effort and personalization, were placed in the hotel rooms. The tipping amount for each room-night was recorded during the data collection.&#xD;
Findings – There were 3,285 room-nights tip records collected in this study. The results indicated that nonpersonalized housekeeping greeting cards did not increase the likelihood of guests to tip, but they may&#xD;
increase the average tipping amount; the personalization of greeting cards from room attendants had positive effects on guest tipping behavior; the hand-written greeting card and name-introduction greeting card were predictors that can significantly increase the likelihood of hotel guests to tip.&#xD;
Research limitations/implications – The empirical research results support social presence theory.&#xD;
With more consistent tipping in hotel rooms, attendants may be able to predict tips through their job performance; thus, creating a win-win in the lodging industry.&#xD;

Previous research has found that when receiving an additional or exceptional service, people may feel obligated to respond with a reciprocal behavior, such as providing tips. This study aims to investigate the effects of hotel turndown services on tips given to hotel room attendants. The results revealed that the room attendants received more tips for providing turndown service, both in terms of the frequency of receiving tips and the amount of those tips. The findings suggest that without the existence of a tipping norm in hotel guest rooms, the relationship between service and tip seems much clearer.

      <description>title: 環境未來通識課程對於大學生氣候變遷素養之成效分析 abstract: 本研究探討環境未來通識課程對於提升大學生氣候變遷素養的成效。本研究採用混合法縱貫型解釋取向，先運用教育部氣候變遷調適問卷，分析在教學介入後學生的素養變項，並於學期末課程結束時，以焦點訪談法收集學生自述因課程而產生的改變，包含看待事物的觀點與角度、分析能力及行動意圖等質性資料。由問卷填答結果的比較發現，本課程學生在各項指標的T分數皆優於全國大專學生常模，尤其難得的是提升了行動技能的素養表現，有75.44%學生的平均數高於全國樣本。而在態度構面，研究個案學生有68.85%高於平均數，表現優於一般大專學生(55.63%)。期末的氣候變遷行動倡議影片製作發表，為一項綜整各項能力的課室方案，是促成實踐的關鍵教學介入，獲得學生非常正面積極的回應。本研究指出，以氣候變遷教育三要素為教學內涵架構之通識課程，可幫助以亞洲學生為主的國際學生提升環境行動技能。最後，對未來大學的氣候變遷教育，在教學內涵、田野實察及行動方案規劃上提出具體建議。

behaviors. The main purpose of the current study is to enrich this understanding by examining the&#xD;
interrelationships among tourism involvement, organizational commitment and organizational&#xD;
citizenship behaviors (OCBs).&#xD;
Design –Based on the recovery theory, tourism involvement was hypothesized to influence both&#xD;
organizational commitment and OCBs. Committed employees were hypothesized to be more likely&#xD;
to perform OCBs. The current study further hypothesized a mediating role of organizational&#xD;
commitment in the relationship between tourism involvement and the OCBs.&#xD;
Methodology –Measurements of tourism involvement, organizational commitment, and the OCBs&#xD;
were developed. A total of 336 frontline employees from 20 international hotels in Taiwan&#xD;
voluntarily participated in the current study. Their responses were examined by using independent&#xD;
t -tests, confirmatory factor analyses, and structural equation modelling.&#xD;
Findings –The outcomes demonstrate that tourism involvement positively influenced&#xD;
organizational commitment. Both tourism involvement and organizational commitment positively&#xD;
influenced the OCBs. The organizational commitment was found to be a mediator between tourism&#xD;
involvement and the OCBs.&#xD;
Originality of the research –The most extant studies examined factors influencing the development&#xD;
of organizational commitment and the OCBs by using work-related variables. However, they&#xD;
ignored contributions made by tourism to employees’ work life. The originality of the current study is the link of the non-work variable to work-related attitude and behavior. As such it provides a&#xD;
new insight to managing tourism human resources.

比較權力轉移理論和貿易和平理論之後發現，無論何者對中美關係的詮釋都因為理論本身的假設過於簡略而顯得不完全，忽略了分析中美關係的關鍵因素。權力轉移理論忽略國家間經濟關係並且假定國家經濟成長是內生成長，忽略貿易對國家經濟成長的貢獻；貿易和平理論則輕忽了貿易多面向的本質以及國際結構因素對貿易行為的影響，國際政治經濟學的理論已經證實貿易行為會因國際結構因素而有不同的涵義以及結果。本文嘗試將這兩個看似南轅北轍的邏輯相互補充對方在推論上不足之處並提出貿易-權力轉移理論(trade-power transition theory)。本文認為，國際貿易在近代成為國家經濟成長主要的動能，權力轉移理論下兩種不同的國際結構，也就是霸權國與挑戰國的權力差距變大以及霸權國與挑戰國的權力差距變小，霸權國會以不同的態度看待與挑戰國之間的貿易關係。當權力差距變大時，霸權國將貿易視為國家權力的來源，就如同Hirschman(1980)所認為的貿易依賴關係(dependence relationship)可以成為大國影響小國的權力基礎。因此，霸權國會推動與挑戰國之間的貿易，以期透過貿易獲得控制挑戰國的能力。不過，當權力差距被拉近，霸權國會強調貿易所帶來的安全外部性(security externality)問題，根據Gowa(1994)的觀點，國家可能會利用貿易所得提升軍事權力，而對非聯盟國家或對手國造成安全上的壓力。因此，霸權國會減少與挑戰國之間的貿易往來數量，降低挑戰國的貿易所得以確保自身安全。這樣的關係能否落實在政策面端視國家間的經濟關係，也就是霸權國與挑戰國之間的貿易互動關係。本文將之分為三種貿易互動關係，也就是貿易相互獨立、貿易相互依賴、貿易依賴關係(挑戰國依賴霸權國以及霸權國依賴挑戰國)。透過國際結構因素和貿易互動關係，本文建構出2×3的分析架構，並利用這個分析架構說明中美關係的發展，包括兩國貿易關係的進展以及雙方以戰爭作為解決衝突的可能性。

      <description>title: 是利還是弊? 東南亞國家對「一帶一路」的回應 abstract: 2013年中國倡議「一帶一路」，主張以共同投資與共同建設的方式完善沿路國家的基礎建設。不過有施就有受，在中國戮力推動「一帶一路」倡議同時要問的是，為何沿路國家要接受中國的“好意”，固然接受國能在國內大興工程，改善國內長期基礎建設不足，經濟發展停滯的問題，但該政策背後可能衍生來自中國對國家的政治、經濟、社會與財政干預，不也正是沿路國家可能拒絕接受的理由。本文研究的問題在於，那些因素影響了東南亞國家對於「一帶一路」的反應？東南亞國家支持/不支持「一帶一路」是基於經濟、債務還是政治上的考量?&#xD;
經過簡單的統計分析後，本文發現，經濟仍是東南亞國家對中國「一帶一路」政策支持與否最關鍵的因素，政治上官員是否貪污反而對政府態度的影響並不顯著。

(Consumer Behavior: Building Marketing Strategy, 8th ed., Irwin McGraw Hill, London, 2001), Zins (“Leisure Travel Choice Models of Theme Hotels Using Psychographics,” J. Leisure Res., Vol. 36, No. 4, 1998, pp. 3–15), and Zheng and Liu (2003) is redesigned to explore resort guests’ vacation lifestyles in Taiwan. A total of 23 items were adopted, some of which were modified to reduce potential problems such as culture difference and item variance. Major Taiwan resort hotels were chosen as subjects for empirical study. The results show stability and consistency in the new scale and suggest it is helpful in exploring and gaining a deeper understanding of Taiwan resort guests’ vacation lifestyles.

Drawing from cognitive evaluation theory, the second paper explores hotel guests’ tipping behavior after implementing housekeeping gratuity envelopes and focuses on the following research question: What kind of gratuity envelope message is more effective to increase hotel guests’ tipping behavior?&#xD;
The third paper focuses on social norm theory, a normative approach that influences hotel guests’ tipping behavior, and aimed to answer this research question: Will social norms motivate hotel guests to participate in tipping inside hotel rooms?
