      <link>https://tkuir.lib.tku.edu.tw/dspace/handle/987654321/109856</link>
<description>title: The Momentum and Mass of A Photon in A Medium- Classical Approach abstract: The corpuscular nature of light including the momentum and mass of a photon in a medium has been of extensive interest and controversy for hundreds of years. The elegant analogy between classical mechanics and optics done by E. Fermi has been extended in this work, and it is shown that for a quasi-monochromatic light (of center frequency ν) propagating in a medium of refractive index n, the photon momentum p= nhν/c, the photon mass m= nn'hν/c², where n' is the group index, and m= n²hν/c² for a monochromatic light, which can also be obtained through the ray equation.

<description>title: Landau quantization in monolayer GaAs abstract: Landau quantization in monolayer GaAs1 HSIEN-CHING CHUNG2, National Kaohsiung Normal University, CHING-HONG HO, CHENG-PENG CHANG, Tainan University of Technology, CHUN-NAN CHEN, Tamkang University, CHIH-WEI CHIU, National Kaohsiung Normal University, MING-FA LIN, National Cheng Kung University — In the past decade, the discovery of graphene has opened the possibility of two-dimensional materials both in fundamental researches and technological applications. However, the gapless feature shrinks the applications of pristine graphene. Recently, researchers have new challenges and opportunities for post-graphene two-dimensional nanomaterials, such as silicene (Si), germanene (Ge), and tinene (Sn), due to the large enough energy gap (of the size comparable to the thermal energy at room temperature). Apart from the graphene analogs of group IV elements, the buckled honeycomb lattices of the binary compositions of group III-V elements have been proposed as a new class of post-graphene two-dimensional nanomaterials. In this study, the generalized tight-binding model considering the spin-orbital coupling is used to investigate the essential properties of monolayer GaAs. The Landau quantization, band structure, wave function, and density of states are discussed in detail.

<title>Substrate and BMT Inter Layer Effect on Pulsed Laser Deposited Barium Strontium Titanate Thin Films and Its Microwave Properties</title>
      <link>https://tkuir.lib.tku.edu.tw/dspace/handle/987654321/98251</link>
<description>title: Substrate and BMT Inter Layer Effect on Pulsed Laser Deposited Barium Strontium Titanate Thin Films and Its Microwave Properties abstract: We have deposited epitaxial Ba0.4Sr0.6TiO3 (BST) thin films via laser ablation on to SiO2 and Pt(Si) substrates with or without a Ba(Mg1/3Ta2/3)O3 (BMT) buffer layer. The structure and microwave dielectric properties of the films have been investigated with two different substrates and a BMT buffer layer. We have found that BMT buffer layer enhances the crystalline growth behavior and also effects dielectric properties of the BST film. The incorporation of BMT buffer layer engenders a change in the lattice parameter BST of the order of 0.01277 on SiO2 substrates and 0.01189 on Pt-Si Substrates. The evanescent microprobe (EMP) analysis reveals the close relation in the variation of microwave property of the deposited films allied with the variation in lattice parameter and the grain size/shape.

      <link>https://tkuir.lib.tku.edu.tw/dspace/handle/987654321/97192</link>
<description>title: Fabrication of nitrogen-doped ultrananocrystalline diamond nanowire arrays with enhanced field emission and plasma illumination performance abstract: Large-area silicon nanowire arrays (SiNAs) were fabricated via metal catalytic etching technique, in conjunction with the polystyrene spheres lithographic process. The nitrogen-doped ultrananocrystalline diamond (N2-UNCD) films were coated on thus formed SiNA by using microwave plasma chemical vapor deposition (MPECVD) process. The N2-UNCD/SiNWs films, which were grown in CH4/N2 plasma at 700°C, possess markedly better conductivity (σN2-UNCD=2-3(Ω cm)-1) than the conventional c-UNCD/SiNWs films, which were grown in CH4/Ar plasma at around 425°C (σUNCD=0.01(Ω cm)-1). The EFE process of the former materials can be turned on at (E0)N2-UNCD=7.80 V/μm achieving larger EFE current density of (Je)N2-UNCD=0.67 mA/cm2 at an applied field of 13.0 V/μm, whereas that of the latter materials need (E0)=UNCD=18.25 V/μm to turn on, attaining only (Je)UNCD=0.024 mA/cm2 at same applied field. While the plasma illumination process can be triggered at around 0.21 V/μm, regardless of the characteristics of the cathod materials, plasma illumination intensity/current density is larger when the materials with better EFE properties were used as cathodes for the plasma device. The plasma illumination current density is around (Jpi)N2-UNCD=5.0 mA/cm2 (at an applied field of 0.35 V/μm) when N2-UNCD/SiNWs film was used as cathode, whereas the (Jpi)UNCD=3.2 mA/cm2 when the conventional UNCD/SiNWs film was used as cathode. In summary, it is observed that the plasma illumination characteristics of the CP-devices is closely correlated with the electron field emission behavior of the cathode materials, which, in turn, was enhanced - ue to the improvement in conductivity of the UNCD films

      <link>https://tkuir.lib.tku.edu.tw/dspace/handle/987654321/74862</link>
<description>title: The operating mechanism of Schottky-gate nanosensors abstract: The highly sensitive nanowire-based Schottky-gate nanosensors for detecting UV, bio-molecules, and gas sensing were demonstrated. The operating mechanism of the Schottky-gate nanosensors is totally distinct from the conventional Ohmic contacted nanosensors. The Schottky-gated device (SGD) has a few merits in comparison to the conventional Ohmic contacted device (OCD). First, it needs no bio-probe to detect molecules; rather, it depends on the absorption of the charged molecules to the junction region. Second, as for the same type of nanowires, such as ZnO, the sensitivity of the SGD is much higher than that of OCD, because a few molecules at the junction region can change the “gate” that effectively tunes the conductance. This Schottky-gate-modulation based sensing principle can be applied to other materials and sensing systems.
