    <title>天意：清法戰爭滬尾之役的雙方謀略</title>
    <link>https://tkuir.lib.tku.edu.tw/dspace/handle/987654321/123948</link>
    <description>title: 天意：清法戰爭滬尾之役的雙方謀略 abstract: 清法戰爭滬尾之役前，無論是法軍或者是清軍，雙方皆耗費心思做戰爭準備工作，但&#xD;
戰爭結果，法軍在短短的三小時之內就退出戰場，對滬尾不再發動戰爭，顯見法軍對滬尾&#xD;
有相當的忌憚。然而從法軍攻打滬尾之前，無論在情報收集、戰事的準備、指揮的調動，&#xD;
地型的勘查等，皆已擘畫妥當，但最後還是無法攻下滬尾。從軍事作戰的分析來觀察，天&#xD;
時、地利、人和、武器、士氣、訓練等，為作戰勝負的關鍵因素，這些因素確實也決定了&#xD;
雙方勝敗。&#xD;
這場戰役對法軍來說相對較為不利，在滬尾之役前幾天，雖然法軍已經擊燬滬尾的所&#xD;
有砲台，為法軍登陸清除了最大威脅。然而，滬尾地區的氣候並不穩定，乃至於法軍無法&#xD;
按照先前所規劃之時間進行，無法獲得主動地位，另外登陸戰指揮官在作戰前身體不適遭&#xD;
到替換，犯了陣前換將的兵家忌諱。導致接替者在戰場上的反應不及，而無法作出較好的&#xD;
策略。

    <title>Reconstructing Taiwanese National Identity in the Sports Film: Small Nation, Sports, and Cultural Heterogeneity</title>
    <link>https://tkuir.lib.tku.edu.tw/dspace/handle/987654321/119405</link>
    <description>title: Reconstructing Taiwanese National Identity in the Sports Film: Small Nation, Sports, and Cultural Heterogeneity abstract: This chapter foregrounds the intersection of sports, national identity and heterogeneous cultures through the recent sports films in contemporary Taiwanese popular cinema from a non-Western-centred perspective. As a small nation in East Asia, Taiwan’s history can be viewed as a site of linear or serial colonialism by consecutive hegemonic powers, while more recently Taiwan has been confronted with the rising superpower of the People’s Republic of China (PRC) in the twenty-first century. Given the revival of Taiwanese popular cinema in 2008, Taiwanese filmmakers have employed cinema as a medium to reconstruct national awareness and to represent the unique cultural heterogeneity of contemporary Taiwan. Sports film, in particular, is a genre that can reinforce the cinematic construction of national identity. Accordingly, this chapter aims to explore how Taiwanese national identity and heterogeneous cultures can be reflected on and reinforced through three recent Taiwanese sports films. In doing so, this chapter argues that sports films in contemporary Taiwanese popular cinema can function as a pivotal space for the interaction of sports, national identity and heterogeneous Taiwanese cultures that relate to Taiwan’s complex serial colonial histories and current geopolitics.

    <title>Charting the Transnational within the National: The Case of Contemporary Taiwan Popular Cinema</title>
    <link>https://tkuir.lib.tku.edu.tw/dspace/handle/987654321/118562</link>
    <description>title: Charting the Transnational within the National: The Case of Contemporary Taiwan Popular Cinema abstract: This chapter aims to map out multifaceted transnationality vis-à-vis a consideration of the national in the case of post-2008 contemporary Taiwan popular cinema. It firstly examines transnational processes and the negotiations between the local/global and the national/transnational embedded in the film production and distribution models. Secondly, it further focuses on the transnational flows of personnel and techniques in the filmmaking process of contemporary Taiwan popular cinema, while interrogating how these transnational cultural flows have facilitated the development of Taiwan’s national film industry. Furthermore, it also scrutinizes how Taiwan popular cinema can function as a transnational output of Taiwan’s soft power and build up Taiwan’s national profile through exhibitions in international film festival circuits. This chapter finally argues that a rigid dichotomy between the national and the transnational does not exist in contemporary Taiwan popular cinema; rather, post-2008 contemporary Taiwan popular cinema can be seen as a site for multi-directional transnational cultural flows when considered in relation to the national, showing the hallmarks of the ongoing process in which transnational cultural flows have shaped, facilitated and negotiated the development of Taiwan’s national film industry and cinematic cultures.
