https://tkuir.lib.tku.edu.tw/dspace/handle/987654321/124209
title: Fast-disappearing destinations: the relationships among experiential authenticity, last-chance attachment and experiential relationship quality abstract: This paper explores the relationships among experiential authenticity, the dimensions of last-chance attachment (last-chance dependence, last-chance identity, last-chance affect and last-chance social bonding) and the dimensions of experiential relationship quality (experiential trust, experiential satisfaction and experiential loyalty). A convenience sample of 505 tourists in Malé, Banana Reef, Artificial Beach and Sun Island of the Maldives was surveyed. The results indicate (a) a positive effect of experiential authenticity on last-chance dependence, last-chance identity, last-chance affect and last-chance social bonding, respectively; (b) positive effects of last-chance dependence, last-chance identity and last-chance affect on experiential satisfaction; (c) a positive effect of experiential satisfaction on experiential trust; and (d) positive effects of both experiential trust and experiential satisfaction on experiential loyalty. The implications of this study for academics and fast-disappearing destination management are discussed.
The linkage between international tourism receipts and economic development: Evidence from quantile-on-quantile approaches
https://tkuir.lib.tku.edu.tw/dspace/handle/987654321/124208
title: The linkage between international tourism receipts and economic development: Evidence from quantile-on-quantile approaches abstract: The main purpose of this study is to explore the relationship between economic growth and tourism development in eastern China. The data used in this study are from 1995 to 2019. This study adopts the quantile-on-quantile research method. The result of this study shows that the economic growth in eastern China is positively correlated with tourism development. However, among the eastern regions, the correlation between economic growth and tourism development in Hebei and Zhejiang was the weakest. Such findings may be a result of the limited importance of tourism in these two provinces. In addition, for Fujian, Hainan, Jiangsu and Liaoning, the research data suggest that tourism and economic growth display the most significant correlation during economic booms only.
A dualistic model of air technician safety behavior: Application of the reformulation of attitude theory
https://tkuir.lib.tku.edu.tw/dspace/handle/987654321/123324
title: A dualistic model of air technician safety behavior: Application of the reformulation of attitude theory abstract: Air technicians carry out critical responsibilities in aircraft maintenance. Their safety behavior is significantly and directly related to overall aviation safety performance. However, to date, only a limited number of studies have been devoted to discussion of air technician safety behavior issues. To gain an understanding of the related topics, in the current paper, Bagozzi's (1992) reformulation of attitude theory is applied to form a dualistic model identifying two types of stressors (i.e. challenge and hindrance) as the appraisal variables, and two types of job passion (i.e. obsessive and harmonious) as the emotional response variables. Air technician safety compliance and safety participation behavior are the targeted behavioral outcomes. A survey questionnaire is designed and distributed to collect data from Taiwanese maintenance technicians working for five national airlines. Structural equation modeling (SEM) is used to examine the hypothesized model. The results indicate that while the challenge stressor exerts more positive effects on harmonious job passion than on obsessive job passion, the hindrance stressor shows more negative effects on harmonious job passion than it does on obsessive job passion. Meanwhile, obsessive passion significantly and negatively affects air technician safety compliance and safety participation behavior. Harmonious passion, on the other hand, significantly enhances both types of safety behavior. The detailed discussion and implications of the findings are provided to serve as practical references for airlines when they are developing human resource management policies intended to enhance safety behavior on the part of maintenance crews. The research results will also be beneficial in terms of enriching the literature related to organizational safety behavior by offering the empirical evidence.

title: Tourism development and economic growth in ChinaThe signaling roles of ownership and board structure for foreign institutional investors in the tourism industry
https://tkuir.lib.tku.edu.tw/dspace/handle/987654321/122190
title: The signaling roles of ownership and board structure for foreign institutional investors in the tourism industry abstract: Foreign institutional capital performs a critical role in the development of the tourism industry. Little research has been conducted to understand how foreign institutional investors choose tourism firms from the governance perspective. The primary purpose of the current study is to bridge this research gap by examining the signaling roles of CEO ownership, domestic institutional ownership, and institutional directors in preferences of foreign institutional investors. Outcomes show foreign institutional investors are more likely to invest in tourism firms who have higher CEO ownership, lower domestic institutional ownership, and a higher level of institutional directors. Implications and limitations are accordingly discussed.

https://tkuir.lib.tku.edu.tw/dspace/handle/987654321/121754
title: Off-stage Heroes: The Antecedents and Consequences of Job Passion among Civil Aviation Maintenance Crew abstract: Objective: The main goals of this study are to identify the possible factors that may affect the level of passion that aircraft technicians have for their job and how job passion may lead to safety motivation. Background: Aircraft maintenance technicians play an essential role in ensuring flight safety since they are obligated to carry out critical responsibilities related to maintaining flight devices. However, the significance and professionalism of civil aircraft technicians tend to be underestimated due to limited academic discussion of job-related issues. In practice, the particular job characteristics and working environment have led to various job demands and requirements for job resources, which may be related to the level of passion of the aircraft maintenance crews.Method: Structural equation modeling (SEM) was used to analyze the empirical data collected with the questionnaire survey. The sealable stamped addressed envelopes were attached to guarantee for the innominate approach, and a total of 411 usable samples was returned. Results: Significant relations found between work-family conflict, professional development and job passion in the expected directions, while non-significant results were presented between work-load, social support, and job passion. In addition, job passion significantly and positively related to air technicians’ safety motivation. Conclusion: Aircraft technicians undertake their workload without responding to it in a significantly negative manner, unless the designated work causes work-family conflict. A vision of career development is crucial to continuously elevate job passion in these individuals. Passionate aircraft technicians are motivated to contribute to aviation safety.

https://tkuir.lib.tku.edu.tw/dspace/handle/987654321/121753
title: How does knowledge flow in industrial clusters? The comparison between both naturally and intentionally formed industrial clusters in China abstract: This study uses a survey research method. Data were collected from 178 companies in Shenzhen Hi-Tech Industrial Park, which was considered to be an intentionally formed industrial cluster. A total of 286 questionnaires were collected from Huaqiangbei Commercial Zone, which was considered to be a naturally formed industrial cluster in China. This study applies structural equation modelling with the analysis of moment structure to test the hypotheses. The findings of this study show that there is different development between intentionally and naturally formed industrial clusters. In the intentionally formed industrial cluster, the results display that global connections positively influence formal cooperation, which in turn, positively results in explorative and exploitative innovation. In this model, local connections positively influence formal cooperation, which in turn, positively leads to explorative and exploitative innovations. In contrast, in the naturally formed industrial cluster, the result shows that global connections positively influence both formal and informal cooperation, which in turn, positively result in explorative and exploitative innovations. In the model, local connections positively influence informal cooperation, which in turn, positively leads to explorative and exploitative innovations.
A TAM Framework to Evaluate the Effect of Smartphone Application on Tourism Information Search Behavior of Foreign Independent Travelers
https://tkuir.lib.tku.edu.tw/dspace/handle/987654321/119602
title: A TAM Framework to Evaluate the Effect of Smartphone Application on Tourism Information Search Behavior of Foreign Independent Travelers abstract: Mobile devices are more present in our everyday lives and have become an important factor in travel behavior. This study amends the technology acceptance model (TAM) and employs it to discuss the relationship between overseas independent travelers using a smartphone travel application (APP) and perceived usefulness, perceived ease of use, usage attitude, usage intentions, and information search behavior. As such, the results reveal that foreign independent travelers (FIT) have a positive usage attitude toward the APP and this produces positive usage intention. The findings herein show that one can apply the new TAM to the tourism industry, as the results not only offer research and development avenues for production ideas, but also present references for formulating new APP policies and strategies.
Job passion in the context of green restaurant: Environmental stewardship orientation and job autonomy as antecedents
https://tkuir.lib.tku.edu.tw/dspace/handle/987654321/119339
title: Job passion in the context of green restaurant: Environmental stewardship orientation and job autonomy as antecedents abstract: Job passion has recently gained increasing attention, as it is crucial to employee well-being and performance. To simultaneously highlight the current trends with regard to environmental issues and organizational psychology, this article investigates the potential antecedents (i.e. environmental stewardship orientation (ESO) and job autonomy) and consequences (i.e. job satisfaction, life satisfaction, and intention to leave) of harmonious job passion among employees working in green restaurants in Taiwan. Data collected from 299 valid samples were analyzed using structural equation modeling. The results indicate that employees’ ESO and perceived job autonomy positively affect their harmonious job passion. Besides, employees with harmonious job passion may have positive job- and life-related outcomes, including high job and life satisfaction, and low intention to leave. The theoretical and practical implications of the findings are discussed, and directions for future research are identified.
Paternalistic Leadership and Cabin Crews' Upward Safety Communication: The Motivation of Voice Behavior
https://tkuir.lib.tku.edu.tw/dspace/handle/987654321/115133
title: Paternalistic Leadership and Cabin Crews' Upward Safety Communication: The Motivation of Voice Behavior abstract: Being the frontline operators in the airline industry, flight attendants constantly obtain and collect first-hand information from their interactions with passengers and other crew members. Their experiences and observations may contribute greatly to airlines' safety management and policy making. It is thus critical to learn how to enhance cabin crews' voice behavior, particularly communicating safety related issues upward through specific leadership styles. The current research aims at the flight attendants working for Taiwanese international airlines. The cabin crew department managers' paternalistic leadership style is adopted to observe how it may trigger cabin crews' different types of voice behavior. This research addresses the following two major questions: 1. What is the motivation for cabin crew to conduct upward safety communication? 2. How does department managers' paternalistic leadership style impact cabin crew's voice behavior? Regression analysis is used to analyze the empirical data collected by the questionnaire survey. The results are applied to provide airlines with practical references for constituting human resource management policies, and the findings also enhance existing literature regarding management applications and employees voice behaviors.
Antecedents and consequences of nurses’ burnout: Leadership effectiveness and emotional intelligence as moderators
https://tkuir.lib.tku.edu.tw/dspace/handle/987654321/115066
title: Antecedents and consequences of nurses’ burnout: Leadership effectiveness and emotional intelligence as moderators abstract: Purpose
Healthcare is recognized as a fertile field for service research, and due to the fact that nurses are stressed physically and emotionally, reducing burnout among frontline healthcare staff is an emerging and important research issue. The purpose of this paper is to explore the possible antecedents and consequences of nurses’ burnout and to examine the moderating effects of personal trait and work-environment issue.
Design/methodology/approach
Drawing on Bagozzi’s (1992) reformulation of attitude theory (appraisal→emotional response→behavior), data from a survey of 807 nurses working in a major hospital in Taiwan were analyzed using the structural equation modeling technique and hierarchical regression analysis.
Findings
The results reveal the positive causality between job stressors and nurses’ burnout, whereas supervisor support negatively relates to burnout. In addition, the full moderating effects of leadership effectiveness and partly moderating effect of emotional intelligence on the relationships among job demands, job resources, and burnout are confirmed.
Practical implications
The findings provide practical insight regarding how supervisors play an essential role in alleviating nurses’ burnout. The supportive attitude and leadership effectiveness are recommended to be effectual managerial strategies.
Originality/value
The empirical results support the job demands-resources model by applying reformulation of attitude theory. The work-environment issue surpasses the personal trait in moderating the relationships among job demands, job resources, and burnout.
