However, they determine also negative pressures, including greenhouse gas and odourous emissions, which should be minimized to mitigate climate changes besides avoiding complaints. The research has been focused on the validation of an innovative integrated biological system for the sustainable treatment of complex gaseous emissions from wastewater treatment plants. The proposed system consists of a moving bed biofilm reactor coupled with an algal photobioreactor, with the dual objective of: i) reducing the inlet concentration of the odourous contaminants (in this case, hydrogen sulphide, toluene and p-xylene); ii) capturing and converting the carbon dioxide emissions produced by the degradation process into exploitable algal biomass. The first reactor promoted the degradation of chemical compounds up to 99.57% for an inlet load (IL) of 22.97 g m−3 d−1 while the second allowed the capture of the CO2 resulting from the degradation of gaseous compounds, with biofixation rate up to 81.55%. The absorbed CO2 was converted in valuable feedstocks, with a maximum algal biomass productivity in aPBR of 0.22 g L−1 d−1. Dairy wastewater has been used as alternative nutrient source for both reactors, with a view of reusing wastewater while cultivating biomass, framing the proposed technology in a context of a biorefinery within a circular economy perspective. The biomass produced in the algal photobioreactor was indeed characterized by a high lipid content, with a maximum percentage of lipids per dry weight biomass of 35%. The biomass can therefore be exploited for the production of alternative and clean energy carrier. The proposed biotechnology represents an effective tool for shifiting the conventional plants in carbon neutral platform for implementing principles of ecological transition while achieving high levels of environmental protection.

title: Planteamientos, avances y conclusiones relevantes para el ámbito e/le en las obras colectivas clave sobre el alumnado chino abstract: In recent years, interest in teaching Spanish as a foreign language (E/LE) to Chinese speakers has grown enormously. The cultivation of this specialty connects with the current of international research on Chinese-speaking educational contexts, which has been developed, above all, from the field of English teaching around the concept of Chinese learner. Among the numerous publications produced within this field, three collective works, linked to each other, published by the University of Hong Kong between 1996 and 2010, stand out due to their special relevance and validity. The topics raised in them constitute an unavoidable reference for current studies around Chinese-speaking students, regardless of the subject in question. Since, according to our experience and research, this set of contributions is not usually considered within the E/LE domain, our objective here is to make it known for the first time in a complete and comprehensive way in Spanish, so that they can be considered in current and future studies within this discipline. To do this, we will present the most relevant approaches, advances and conclusions that emerge from these key works, grouped around three fundamental issues: the paradox of the Chinese student, the paradox of the Chinese professor, and the contemporary research framework.

Enhancing science attainment is crucial in improving the effectiveness of science education. This study investigates the impact of home educational resources, students' attitudes toward learning, instructional practices and strategies, and school factors on science achievement. This investigation utilizes Trends in International Mathematics and Science Study 2019 eighth-grade science data from the United States. The technique of hierarchal linear models is employed to find the effects of the multilevel factors on science achievements. Results of fixed effects show that science achievement is primarily affected by home educational resources, attitude toward learning, and school composition by student background. Of the four attitudinal predictors, students' confidence in science is most correlated to their achievements. Home educational resources, students like learning science, and self-efficacy for computer use predictors, have significant random effects on science achievement. This study finds that ensuring adequate resources and employing appropriate instructional methodologies to reinforce students' motivation in learning are two major priorities in improving science achievement. The limitations of this research and suggestions for future work are also discussed.
